I know that you can use baking soda and vingar for most things... like windows, floors, counters... what about toilets???

Do you mix up containers ahead of time or just mix when your cleaning... I have purchase some cloths and one for glass...

Anything that you can recommend is great... since I will be going back in a month and 2 kids make little time for cleaning.

Have you looked into Shaklee? They have some great products and are very environmentally aware. I love my Basic H2, it cleans really well, has no scent and will not affect my daughter if she gets into it. Just a thought. Let me know if you have any questions.

I use just vinigar and baking soda here. Sometimes dish detergent(smells yummy lol). I'm cheap and refuse to pay the cost for any cleaners. I run a home daycare and therefore im always disinfecting stuff so I just buy a giant thing of vinigar every month or so and thats working just fine for me.

so glad i saw this thread! i dont' know why, but for some reason this past month or so i'm feeling the pull to go green. i'm feeling really strongly about it and i'm just starting to read up on how to do it.

i bookmarked a few really helpful sites but i can't access them right now because our computer hasn't been working properly.

mostly but I did get a free sample of green cleaner a while back and occassionally i use that if i didn't clean the toilet for a couple days. I clean it everyday so vinigar works just fine because i dont let it get too dirty.

I use baking soda on my sinks, tub and toilet. I spray vinegar/water (already mixed in a spray bottle) on my mirrors, faucets, toilet seat, toilet rim, around base of toilet. I also use Borax in toilet, I don't know how safe or environmentally friendly it is, I happen to have some so I use it.

I use a spray bottle because it's easy to spray on the mirrors, faucets, etc. I don't know why I mix it! I just put a bit of water in, probably 3 parts vinegar to 1 part water.

I agree!!! Basic H2 is actually cheaper than using vinegar - and has no smell at all. I tried it first from Shaklee and now use everything - the scour paste rocks, laundry detergent and dish soap. Ever since I learned my dishwasher spews chemicals into my kitchen I have been very conscious of what I use, so I tried Shaklee's automatic dish soap..it rocks too! Plus, I can feel really good about supporting a good company - they are completely carbon neutral!!!
