IME, hot yoga and no Holiday's to tempt me with crap to eat. Traditionally, I believe some form of cardio + diet is the tried and true method. Add in something to tone up the muscles and you'll be in a bikini soon enough

    -Hands down diet first.

ToscaReno.com The eat clean diet is a REALLY good book at getting the basics down.

Running and physical exercise will burn calories, weight training will shape your body. (some physical exercises do shape your body too,but I think weight training is my preferred way,one of the most effective ways too IMO)

Oxygen fitness magazines are really good for ideas and have some good recipie ideas every month too.

To actually lose the fat, cardio is a must (plus healthy eating). Sit-ups, push-ups, planks, etc will tone your abs, but you still need to lose the fat on top to see that tone. However, if you're like me, there is extra skin from being stretched out by baby which will not go away. arghh!

    ROFL!

Well, it had better be a combo of Learn to Run and Intro to Hot Yoga, or I'll be pissed.

I know I answered already but I realized I wasn't specific to what you asked..

To get results, I would say cardio of some sort to start for 30 minutes a minimum of 3-4 times a week and I would weight train 2-4 times a week. (the book I am doing right now the new rules of lifting for woman the workouts are not as long as some, but the trade off is I do a weight work out every other day). The book is laid out in a fool proof way with pictures showing each exercise, so no worrying if your doing it right-very straight forward book.

I do want to say I think the best thing for a person is the thing they are going to stick with, if walking is something you could really enjoy and stick with-do that, if you think you will enjoy running-do that, swimming? go do laps in the morning, because the truth is if you are consistent with exercise and healthy eating you will get results. Plan your meals too, I am really working on this and it goes along way and drink at least 8 cups of water a day.

This would equal weight loss, and loss of belly, I would add in some ab toners such a planks as suggested and other abs.

    Good luck!

ETA, I am all about doing a variety of things, I myself like rollerblading, tae bo and running.

My mom and her best friend have always sworn that walking is the key. I have seen it work too. Although I suppose it is a bit to do with diet too in their cases because they would watch their portions better. But they would walk an hour a day at least and they could lose crazy amounts of weight super fast. My mom had three kids and did it each time and my "aunt" had 5 kids and did it each time. Drink your water, eat well and walk walk walk. Oh and I just read in a magazine (I think its called First for Women) that apparently if you walk slow it is better than jogging or speed walking because it doesn't build up your appetite which makes you eat more. Its the issue thats out right now if you want to check it out. (Its the article about walking off 43 lbs in a month!)

dance and pilates for me. Dance is a wonderful way to lose weight and tone up and its fun so the kids can join in! Yoga is awsome too.

Walking!!! I walk everywhere. I'm usually pulling a wagon along too. On average, I walk 2 hours a day minimum when the weather is nice... once in the morning, once after supper. I also walk around the neighbourhood with the kids and play at the park daily. My gym membership was a waste!
