    Default Cold Sores

    Cold Sores suck...

I usually get one every March.
    They are annoying.

Other than the gel from the pharmacy, anyone have any good tips for getting rid of them?

    The gel (Abreva?).
    You can do two things:

use lysine supplement (amino acid) to speed up the healing time. it really helps.

ask your dr to prescribe you acyclovir (zovirax) cream and pills. gets rid of them QUICKLY and they don't come back as often. this medication actually fights the virus. none of the OTC meds do that.

I find that the Acyclovir ointment works really well! If I use it as soon as I feel the tingle - most times it barely progresses to a full blown cold sore.
