refusing soother

Noah is so craby and tierd but he is refusing his soother and trying desperately to get his thumb/fist in his mouth.... however he can't seem to get it quite right , its almost like he forgets he has control over his thumb and yanks it out and then screams like I took it away lol... what to do with my cranky incosolable 2 month old ... I have been feeding him all day too but he is getting pretty much nothing from me at this point and my breasts need a break from him using them as his soother .. Any suggestions ?>> TIA

Have your tried many kinds of soothers....I know costly - but worth it once you find it. A friend had success when someone else offered her babe a soother....after that it just took a bit of time before she took a soother from her - but the initial getting used to a soother was done by someone else.

My DD does the same, she refuses, spits them out as soon as they go in. I agree with the above. A friend of mine has a daughter who only uses the NUK soothers. Her daughter did not like the Advent or other ones. Try the different types and see what he will take.

I agree with trying different soothers too. Mikayla will only take the winnie the pooh soother and nothing else. The nipple on it looks wider and longer then other 0-6 mths soothers I have. It's almost like its easier to grab onto and suck.

I thought of that but he has had the same soothers since birth and he is 2 months today... do they just decide they don't like that brand anymore???

Piper is doing the exact same thing. Tired and crabby and desperately needing to sleep but only wants to be pacified by me. A soother won't do and we have Avent, Nuk and Soothie brand soothers. She will take a few sucks and when she realizes it's not a nipple she screams bloody murder. When she isn't tired and crabby and just wants to suck she is happy to take anyone of them. I pass her off to her Dad when she's like this and he can get her to sleep with a pacifier. No advice but sympathy!
