Hrm..
We put a light sleeper on him for now.. but will definately need to find something a little better, because its sooo warm in here! (and the heat is turned wayyy down!lol)

I know, that's why I never tried it, b/c it doesn't seem like it would work, but she swears it does! Could you put him in a romper (I think that's what they're called... like onesies only with shorts)?

great idea! I hadn't thought of pulling out some spring/summer clothes. *smacks forehead* lol
Thanks ! I think we'll try that!
My poor DH got the first poop we've had in a CD. Lol He didn't know what to do with it, while I was at school. LOL
But He did well! He just rinsed it out, and its now sitting in the sink downstairs. Lol

So how often does everyone wash? It seems like the older DD gets the more washing I do for some reason. I think it's b/c her dipes are getting bigger and her pees are getting stronger so I need to wash them in less water. They were getting stinky so now I don't fill the load more than half and that took care of it, but... I'm washing every freakin other day now, and it's starting to get annoying!

Every other day. I've got two in diapers and my buckets aren't big enough to hold anymore. My hemp is SO stinky right now. I think I need to strip them in the dishwasher. Not looking forward to it

I remember bikruca told me that when her DS did this, she just started putting his diaper on backwards so he couldn't get at the closures. I didn't try it but it couldn't hurt to give it a shot...

I totally forgot about that!
That worked really well with velcro closures
sidesnaping diapers are another way to keep things on

I wash twice a week. Usually Wednesday and once on the weekend. I've found increasing the amount of water and number of rinses really, really, really helped with stinkies! I'm pretty good at the moment. If it starts to get smelly, the next wash I put sunlight dish detergent in instead of laundry detergent.
The diapers from overnight are horrible in the morning, so smelly! But they still wash up great....

I wash every 2 days with twins, I got through lots of dipes, BOTH my girls are heavy wetters now and I don't like the smell of dirty dipes, so twice a day they get soaked in a pail with a bit of detergent, rinsed to put in the washer, so that's 2 water passages there..............then in my front loader the water changes 5 times so in all my dipes go through 7 fresh water passes. And I have pretty much NO stains on any of my dipes.
**Just want to let you ladies know that if you'd like really nicely made NEW diapers???...........LEIGH has made me 2 dipes for my girls and they are super cute!!!.......nice wide strip of velcro to fit around their pencil thin waistlines till they actually grow a tummy! You're a sweetheart Leigh, you should be selling them, I'm tellin ya................**

Okay.. so I have tried the backwards diaper.. and he still manages to get it off! Pants.. he just shoves his hands down and undoes them.. and even in sleepers he's managing to undo the velcro!
HELP! My little man is just way to smart for his own good!!! Lol
ETA: And another quick question..
I have been telling DH he needs to rinse poopy diapers.. but he left one over night, and now it has a little stain.. so do I need to wait until its actually decent outside and put it out here to sun bleach it out? Or is there an alternative??
I don't really mind, its not very visible.. but still. lol

Wet it and hang it outside now while it's still sunny out!
I have to say I'm pretty amazed at the backwards diaper thing. It sounds like he has a gift.

He's crazy! Lol
I'm afraid the diaper would freeze outside right now. Lol
I have to say.. so far I am LOVING my cloth diapers! I don't have any store bought.. so nothing really to compare them to other than disposables.. but I love the diapers I made. Matthew loves wearing them too, simply because they are easier for him to get off than underwear when he needs to potty! lol

Leigh,
This won't help for the ones you have already made, but if you plan on making more, what about trying a stronger velcro? I have some diapers that have MUCH stronger velcro than others. Some I really have to rip at myself. Now don't ask me where you'd buy a better velcro though.

That's a good idea. The baby can pull off her BG's but not her MPBBA's.

I generally don't mind the BG's, but I agree that the veclro is not very good. Our Blueberry diapers have really strong velcro, and the edge has caught on the BG velcro before and actually rips it a bit because it's so much stronger! I wish the BG's had coloured velcro too, as the white gets a bit dingy.

Wow, that is impressive I would agree to look for different velcro. There is the Canadian cloth diaper trader and Canadian cloth diaper co-op lists where someone might be able to help with where to get it in Canada. Diaperswappers I'm sure you'd get an answer, but it might not apply to here
You can sun through the window Lay it out in a sunny room or hang in the window. Or don't worry about it and just wait till you're drying outside in the summer

Yeah, the MPBBA diapers have really good velcro!
Changing topic.. for those who were talking about making recycled wool covers/longies, I just had a thought, I just listed a black merino wool men's sweater on Kijiji that my husband doesn't use for cheap (well, I think it is cheap for wool!) and just thought it might felt into some cute longies or soakers... If you're interested, let me know and I'll send a link.
