ya know, CD confuses me so much that i'm not sure what the difference is between AIOs and fitteds? maybe i've got them mixed up?

Just through her business I didn't buy much new due to budget constraints, but got a bunch of seconds and second hand stuff off her over the time I had my daughter in diapers. Have quite a lot of Baybee diapers around. My only problem now is some have dead elastic and for someone who isn't a sewer I have no idea who would want to endeavor to fix the elastic in the AIOs the way it is sewn. Anyways, Amy was always so lovely to deal with, I was very sad to see her sell the business but can only imagine what it is like to try to run a business with children! Small world for sure
All-In-Ones are as they sound, all together, one thing to put on baby. So the outside is waterproof and you don't need a cover. Most they are very similar to a disposable, the Baybee ones are quick-dry so they have a snap-in layer that is part of the diaper for more absorbency, but dries easier since it isn't a bunch of layers sewn together. Fitteds are not waterproof at all. Nothing stops wetness from going right through them. Those need covers to keep everything else dry. One other option, probably not what you have, but there are pockets what are a waterproof outer and a fleece (stay-dry) inner and an opening at the back. You take your absorbent material (usually called an insert) and stuff it in the opening to give absorbency to the diaper.
Doubler is basically anything extra that you are going to add in to the diaper to increase absorbency. So usually something smaller than an insert for a pocket, typically can be laid inside the diaper. The mother-ease one-size offer a snap-in doubler, not sure if you'd have those.

When we were tossing around the idea of cloth verses disposable there was no question which one we wanted to use. We were all about saving as much money as we could and loved how this was one way we can control that.
I made all of my cloth diapers.... ok so my grandma's did but it was their shower gift to me. I purchased all of the fabric for the diapers and they helped me sew them as I am no sewer....
It took about a week to make about 4 dozen diapers. I went out and purchased the plasic diapers to go over top and they work great! They can leak if you leave them on for to long and depending how much your chaild pee's but i have no complaints. I highly reccoment making your own if you know how to sew and have the extra time on your hands.
It was totally worth it and I wouldn't change it for the world.

We use some nice AOI with snaps from www.comfyrumps.com they are out of bc and the price was great. The diapers are great too! We haven't had any leaks and even at night with just a double liner he's not soaked thru in the morning.

Is my preference in diapers likely to change?
Is my preference in diapers likely to change after we start solids?
I have a 5 month old and have been using mainly prefolds. I have tried a couple of pocket diapers, I don't lik them as much. I have tried a couple of kissaluvs, and I like those.
I have a stash of pockets diapers, most brand new still, that I think I want to sell to purchase more of the diapers I currently like, but I don't know if I will still like them when her poo changes?

Yes, I have found that people do change their tastes, especially when the kid gets old enough to be walking/crawling around every where. I'm not saying this will happen to you - I am just saying that I have known quite a few people who start off loving prefolds but later move onto pockets for ease of use.
I suggest keeping at least a few pockets just in case.

I agree with Danielle, tends to change more with baby's mobility, easier to chase with a pocket than a prefold if you have someone who decides they have no interest in staying put for the diaper change :P If you can hang on a little to decide, it might be helpful.

I agree completely! I never use my prefolds anymore, unless I've run out of other diapers. There's no way I can get them on my 12 month old without a fight. At this age, for us, fast is key.

Oh gosh, there is 21 pages here! Is there a cloth diapering 101 Coles Notes? lol I've been told the diapers we buy have gone up in price AGAIN and DD still have quite a bit of time left in diapers. She's 8 months but is crawling and standing/trying to walk along things. BF but eats some solids. Where do I start?? Feeling overwhelmed! Not 100% confident this is a switch we can make. She's the last baby too, so will the cost be worth it? Help!

Yes, you can get second hand or inexpensive ones, then resell and still be alright. It isn't that hard at all! Definitely worth it! The cost of disposables is insane, IMO :P
