Default French playgroup tomorrow anyone? English-only speakers welcome

I took my kids to the French playgroup at the French First Language School at Highbury and Dundas last Monday. We had a great time and are going again tomorrow morning.

If you'd like to join us it is from 9:30 - 1:30 and you don't need to be able to speak french at all. It is set up like and EYC with lots of toys, a craft area, paints, books, circle time and even has a snack. Around 11:30 the kids get to play in the school gym. My 3 yo and 20 mo old both loved it there. Neither wanted to leave. My 3 yo especially liked the songs.

The teacher (Madame Jennifer) speaks to the parents in English and the kids in French. Most of the parents there last week didn't speak French, or not fluently.

You need to buzz to get into the school. Push the "La Tamise" button. I didn't have to speak to anyone to get in, as soon as I buzzed the door was unlocked.

So, is anyone up for trying something different tomorrow?

I have been a couple of times now and it's awesome (my first time at an OEYC!). Although my son doesn't like sitting for circle time much I have been totally amazed at how easy it is for him to pick up French words and phrases.

It has helped my French as well, and like the OP said Madame Jennifer mostly talks to the parents in English, depending on your level of comfort in French. The parents talk to each other mostly in English as well.

They also have free lunch days once a week or so! Not to mention the free snack which I didn't expect.

We won't make it today because I am a terrible planner - lol.. but I took dd out of school last week for the rest of the year until she starts FI next year... so I am thinking that I would like to start taking her to this 2-3 times a week. I would love to know when others will be there too We miss our old OEYC playgroup, but since most of our friends graduated to jk like us... and since this one would help get dd ready for next year I am thinking this would be a great one to start up on

It was great to meet you today. It seemed like L was having lots of fun, especially in the gym.

We will likley go to the library in Coldstream tomorrow, or maybe skating. If you do go to the french group it starts at 11:30 in the school gym tomorrow and goes to 3:30. There is a free lunch tomorrow too.
