    Default Credit rating Question

I would like to find out the particulars on my 'credit rating' and was lead to believe that this information could be obtained for free, but if I visit https://www.econsumer.equifax.ca/ca/...=OPIEM&lang=en , they require joining for a fee. Is there anyway to find out this information with out signing into something for 'x' number of months?

    Hi Donna,

I'm not aware of a completely free and reputable site (but someone please correct me if I've missed one).

Equifax, Transunion, and NCB Inc. are the three biggest ones operating in Canada - I've used them before and only paid the basics to check histories.

This site suggests a free trial (looks like basic info) through Transunion but I haven't used or heard of them so no endorsement here.

    https://www.freecanadacreditreports.ca/

Hope you find what you need.

you can get a free credit history from www.equifax.ca....on the home page go into 'credit education-learn more'...then on the right hand side, blue column there is a link to get a free credit file disclosure via. canada post...click on that link...then next screen go under right hand side, related resources-to order free form by mail please fill in this form...the form will pop up..print it. You just fill it in, photocopy 2 pieces i.d, drivers license..and a copy of a utility bill would work...fax it to the # provided and you get it in the mail in a couple of weeks. ...
Hope this helps...i walk people at my work through this all of the time!!!
any questions let me know!..i think they make it so difficult to make money

If you do it through the mail it is free, if you want to know your score right away online I believe you have to pay for it.

Weird my post didnt show up....

If you want to know your score right away (online) then you hae to pay for it but if you go with the mail all your info in route then I believe you are allowed to get one free report a year.

Thanks for the reply's and info everyone --- your posts when made don't show immediately here --- the moderator must first approve them (that would be me in this particular section) and I often only check in every few hours.

Hope this info doesn't get out too late for some.

    Thanks again

Yes, thanks for your help! The snail mail is just fine for me. Its more out of "I just wonder" than anything else. Someone recently told me that everyone should know what their's includes and I don't.
