Default Wearing a stubborn baby.

I've been trying to get DS in a back carry. I have the Mei Tai and have the ties under control for a high back carry. The problem is no matter which way I try to get him on my back....sitting on shoulders and sliding down, hip scoot, popping him down etc. He will not cooperate with me. He gets his legs up....like he is superman flying, he stiffens himself and won't budge. Not to mention he thinks its a game and will actually be smiling and laughing at me while I do it.
Hopefully DH will give me a hand tomorrow and we can figure it out, once DS gets used to going in maybe he'll cooperate. Thankfully I'm still just playing around and we didn't have anywhere to go, and in the end he had a blast.

My DS has recently taken to trying to crawl off my back as I'm trying to wrap him. Not cool kid! I don't know what to suggest, I totally need an extra arm...

I was going to suggest being consistant.

My youngest resisted babywearing initially but even still at 18 months if we hold him like he's being front carried he instantly settles down and relaxes. He hasn't been worn in a front carry for 12 months.

the first time i tried a back carry on my own M screamed like a banshee in my ear as he was supermaned on my shoulder. that put a damper on my efforts. i haven't tried since. lol. loooooves being held but will squirm and squirm when i'm trying to wrap him up. *sigh*

sounds like you had a fun time getting him wrapped! i think once he gets used to being on your back it'll become more routine.

Awesome post, I still want to carry my girls, and the spring itch is starting to pour in my windows by virtue of sunshine and I still have babies that scream when I put them in either my Mei-Tai or RingSling; I need a carrier that is even weight bearing too due to whiplash/nerve damage pain so I have to use a carrier on both shoulders and someone else here use the RingSling.

I found Z was not into a back carry very reliably until 5 mos. At 3 mos she liked front facing out. Maybe it will just take your LO some time to get to the point where he likes it?
