Unhappy Going back to work Feb 2!!!

Just got off the phone FINALLY with EI, been trying all week. I have to go back to work Feb 2!! I thought I had another 2 weeks!! I asked why my claim started Feb 3 of last year when my son wasn't born until the 21st and she didn't know. I could submit to find out why and I might end up getting the extra 2 weeks, but it will take 3-4 weeks to investigate, which puts me to the time I was going back to work anyway. I don't need to find out then that they aren't going to pay and I just went 2 weeks without pay.

So all the things that I thought I had about 3 weeks to do, I have to cram into a week and a half!!!!!!! I thought I was stressed out enough!! We are in the middle of getting our basement refinished from the flood, so dealing with construction company and dh to get work done, have to figure out my cleaning schedule to keep house (and me!!) on even keel, plan ds 1st bday and make the invitations, I need clothes and shoes to go back to work....stuff I had before doesn't fit the same.

    Ok. I'm done.

I hate nasty surprises. Hope you can get everything sorted out!

My advice is to make a list and then mark things off as they get done. Gives you a feeling of accomplishment!

Ah! I would be freaking out too. I agree with MOF and make a list. It will help you stay organized and on track. Good luck

Aaahh, that sucks Good luck - I agree with mum_of_four, make a list, and make sure you don't lump too big of a 'to-do' in one point or it will make it more difficult to tick off. Try to put the steps down as points instead!!

About your claim starting so early.. did you count from the date you actually applied for EI? It doesnt go from your LOs bday, it goes from the date you finish work/apply for EI.

About feeling overwhelmed. I would make a list and then start at the top and dont even look past that item. Focus on the top task and go from there.

Don't forget that mat leave is 50 weeks total paid

15 week mat 35 weeks parental

Depends whether you waited an unpaid waiting period at the start of your claim or not. You get it either at the beginning or at the end if you are taking the whole 52 weeks.

My son was born Feb 21. The time before I left is a bit fuzzy....I had some time off for a short term disability. My claim was started as of February 3. It was my understanding that the first 2 weeks of the month were short term disability and then mat leave was starting Feb 14. Not sure what happened. They said my last day paid with them is January 31.

Oh, that sucks. I need to call EI too. DD was born the 18th but now I am worried I need to be back earlier. Gah.
