Adhd
Anyone have a kiddo with ADHD?
We were given a diagnosis today.
I'm still processing, sorry this is so brief.

Dh has ADHD, and while it is too early for diagnosis, we suspect our first son will probably have it too.
If you haven't already been advised to do so, I suggest you pick up "Driven to Distraction: Recognizing and Coping with Attention Deficit Disorder from Childhood through Adulthood." It's written by two doctors who both have the condition, and I've found it very helpful to better understand how his mind works.
While it's a lot to take in initially, be thankful that it has been diagnosed early. Good luck, Geo.

My DS#2 was diagnosed at age 3, then rediagnosed at age 8. He is now 11, and still unmedicated. Doing very well, no extra interventions at school or home.

My little bro (now 12) has adhd. He's never been on meds, but instead my mom manages him through food/avoidance of certain chemicals. It takes work, but it does work. It's worth looking into when you get a chance. Hugs.

Sending you support. When you are done processing, there is so much you can read. Some of my favourite students have adhd. They are often able to think outside the box and teach me all kinds of things daily. One mom of a wonderful girl I teach attended some lectures at the university and she came out really well-informed. The mom passed on all kinds of information and if these lectures are suited to your lo's age, I would go for sure. Hugs.
