    Default Clomid?

Does anyone have any experience with Clomid? My doctor just perscribed it. I will be starting it in 2 weeks. We are going away next week and decided to wait till we got back. A friend of mine was on it and said she was an emotional wreck, but it worked the 3rd month, so she says it was worth it....

Anyone have any experience with it??

I used it for a few months with no luck but that is not to say it won't work for you. I dont' think I was emotional.

All I can say is when you do go on it. Don't run or jump around. Also no bounding down the stairs. B/c when your ovaries start working it hurts to do those sorts of things.

It's a drug, so there will be differences to a normal cycle. I didn't find that I had any side effects. That said, it was the mildest of all drugs I ever took - I did 5 years starting with Clomid, and ending with injectibles and In Vitro.

I think a lot of how it affects you, is up to you. Infertility is just as much a mind game as it is a physical game. I've seen a lot of women "wallow" in it, but I've also seen a lot "suck it up".

Will your doc check to make sure you're ovulating on it? There are different dosages, and not everyone ovulates on the same dosage.

    Good luck to you!!!!

I used clomid to conceive my son. We were on our 6th and final cycle when it worked. I found that I got a few really bad headaches the week after taking it. But it was well worth it and I will be getting a new script for it in March after I have my insulin levels in check. Good luck to you.

I did several years of fertility treatments before conceiving DS. Clomid was the first intervention we tried. I think I was on it for 6 months before switching to Femara. I didn't find the clomid had that many side effects. I am prone to headaches and migraines so that was worse. And you do get hormonal/emotional.

I was given a Px for Clomid - but managed to conceive somehow... prior to actually starting to take it... so I wish the best for you in the next 2 weeks and hope that you wont actually need to use it!

I was given clomid and femara - I had more side effects with clomid - kind of like PMS for me. I think with clomid it increases your chances of multiples as well. We went through years of fertility treatments with no luck, and decided we needed a break. Then we got pregnant I guess you just never know.

I started the Clomid this morning. I am really worried how my body will react, as I am REALLy sensitive to hormone change, however, I am REALLY hopeful that it will work!

So how does Clomid work? I am really new to hearign about it and don't know much more than it aids with conception? Is that right?

My doctor described it as "reverse birthcontrol". Instead of telling your brain to not release an egg, it sends the message to release an egg.
There is a 10% chance of multiples!
You take it on Day 5-9 of your cycle and you are supposed to ovulate on Day 18.
You can only take it for 3 months, then they up the dosage to 100 mg for another 3. If it doesn't work then, you move on to something else.
I was looking online and they said there is an 80% success rate with it.

I had really bad headaches when on Clomid. It took 4 months of trying but it worked! After the first 3 months, my doctor doubled the dose. I was nervous that it might be twins, but it isn't!!

I developed OHSS on a very very low dose of clomid so I would be sure to tell your Dr if you have ANY side effects. I was side lined for 3 months while my ovaries (size of grapefruit) returned to normal size.

Really? I was reading the side effects today again.
Might be a really stupid question, but how did you know you had it?

I was told that I had PCOS and that I would never ever ovulate on my own. Our fertility specialist prescribed something to induce my period, and then clomid. I remember it hurting so bad when I was ovulating cause it had been sooooo long since i had!! My DH and I were pg the first month with our first girl. It worked well obviously!!
Since we were sure we weren't going to get pg anymore unless we were on the medicine we just "forgot" about protection... 3 months after my daughter was born I was looking at a positive pregnancy test.... after he was born I was like well if it happens it happens and 3 months later, i was staring at another. I remember the 2 years that we tried for a baby before my daughter... I must have blown hundreds and hundreds of dollars on pg tests (the dollar store didn't have them then booooo) and it was a complete shocker to me to just buy one and have it come out.... YES!!
Clomid saved my ovaries and ... made me lose my infertility altogether apparently hahahaha
I wish you the bestest of luck!!!!
