Default Winter Solstice !!! How are you going to celebrate ??

Im gathering some of others peoples traditions and ideas to have a learning/party for some little people.
I would like to make this an annual event for us and start some of our own "traditions"

Sundial is a great idea for it !!

Every year I say I want to drag eveyone out of bed before sunrise, pack hot chocolate and chocolate danishes and watch the sunrise someplace beautiful, like over lake Erie. Every year it doesnt work out. Maybe if a bunch of us were doing it I might feel obligated....

But you'll take a pass on the getting out of bed at 5 am and dragging kiddies out to sit on a freezing cold beach in December? See thats the part that always holds me up too.

BUT if I knew I was in charge of the chocolate danishes and people were meeting me, I would be accountable and I would do it. Just gotta find some other crazies

I love the idea of watching the sunrise, umm but the reality of the winter that early in the morning? Maybe not so much. Maybe we can send someone with a camera with a live internet feed and watch it from home?

Hecate - I will meet you for the summer solstice but yeah - not going to happen for the winter one.

The only consistent thing we do is light candles and the fire once the sun sets. We sometimes have friends over or go over to a friends home.
