It can be time consuming but I just keep my current project beside the couch and I've been working on them when I watch TV in the evening.

I've been using the felt from Michael's and it's been working great so far.

i used the small felt squares from michaels for my first pieces of food.. theyre great to practise with, but be forewarned they don't last nearly as long as the more expensive felt does.

Mine balled A LOT, and also it's harder to make any details.. like leaves on a peice of corn or smoething, because if you pull the cheaper felt hard enough, it will come off.. wrecking your food, and posing a choking hazard

100% Wool felt is the best for making felt food.
The acrylic kind is cheap but you wont really be happy with your stitches and the final product.Good for practice though.
I use a blanket stitch for most of my projects. The stitches will pull through on the cheapo kind and end up very uneven.Plus it will leave a little hole where the embroidery floss was if you have to take it out.
I have only been able to find wool felt by the yard in the states, although I havent checked all over T.O.
It can be expensive, but if you are looking for 8X10 squares, The waldorf school has it in their store in the office area.Lots of colours to choose from plus an amazing selection of items you are suddenly not going to be able to live without !!!

    Good Luck !
I will find some pics and post what I made for my Littles last year for xmas!

Not stupid at all...I was going to ask the same thing! I have heard of the school, but have no idea where it is, or what the hours may be for purchasing items.

    LOL!!! no kidding !!!
You what your saying is, that I will be on my own hunting for the felt ??LOL!!!

I actually have had really bad experiences with the ladies at the cutting tables. But every once in a while, i get sucked back in to all of the unique fabrics that they do carry !!

    Whats the price ???

I think around the $17/m range

Its in the back corner with the minkee stuff. They had "pool table felt" there too. (Which actually felt to me like wool felt!)
