    Default Useful HS websites

I'm hoping to turn this into a sticky. I thought we could list websites that we have found to be helpful. I'll post some when I find some.

One of my favourites is BestHomeschooling.org. Lovely, inspiring articles there, plus lots of links to other resources.

Another one that should definitely be included in this list is The Ontario Federation of Teaching Parents. This support group is an excellent resource for learning about our rights as homeschooling families and the legalities of homeschooling that are specific to Ontario.

    Some other useful sites:
A to Z Home's Cool - Good site with all sorts of information on homeschooling in general.
Home Education Magazine - Homeschooling information, support, news, and archived back issues of the magazine (and the option to subscribe to the magazine, if desired).
Life Learning Magazine - This magazine is no longer being published (rather, its publishers are now including some homeschooling articles as part of the content in "Natural Life" magazine instead), but you can download PDFs of back issues of their magazine online for free.

I was coming on to start a thread on this, but when I saw we have a sticky, I thought it would be a good idea to put it here too.

This is a parents resource for unschooling. Carlos Ricci, the editor, is an unschooling dad who also happens to be the Director of the Faculty of Education at Nippising University. I have heard him speak a few times about unschooling and last year, he hosted John Taylor Gatto for his students and any unschooling parents to join in too.

I second Starfall for educational activities - especially the ABC section for children still learning their letter sounds sight words!

Please correct me if I have posted this in the wrong spot ladies.
I just wanted to say thanks for the great links!
I have checked out Homeschool Share so far (great site!) & I am trying to do lots of reading on the subject....so far I really think I want to homeschool but unfortunately I am hitting a brick wall with hubby
He really thinks that “he will not be socialized properly“ he will be “too sheltered“ etc.
He has said that he will try to be open to what I have to say about it...but I dunno....I think he alrdy has his mind set.
    Any suggestions??

If he(your husband) is a reader I would recommend John Taylor Gatto's book Dumbing Us Down. It will change the way he perceives public education. In regards to socialization, ask yourselves whom you wish to be socializing your child, it might not be their peers. And take a look at how many homeschool intereactions are available where you live if you want to be out with other kids. I find in the London area there is more than I could possibly do or want to do. We have to limit ourselves so we aren't constantly running around. On the up side too with a lot of our activities during the day, we have more evenings for family time together. Hope this helps.

    Nice site!

Anyone want to list authors here too?
Stop thinking you’re not ready. – Nobody ever feels 100% ready when an opportunity arises. Because most great opportunities in life force us to grow beyond our comfort zones, which means we won’t feel totally comfortable at first.
