Organic food - Chemical free living
Just making a few stickies so that you can all talk about what's new in the organic food or chemical free living news! You can also get support and advice from other like minded mamas. Hopefully new members will be able to find information easier by having it all in one thread! Enjoy!

I've been getting organic veggies delivered by On the move organics for a few months now. Great service. They try to do mostly local produce, although they've been getting stuff from a bit farther away since it got cold.
I looked for an organic food delivery service when I first moved to London last year, but I didn't find anything then. Hope this helps someone.

I have used OMO the last couple of weeks and really love the service. Even in January we are getting really great produce. I am considering sticking with them through the summer instead of joining the CSA like I did last summer.
I highly recommend their service for local organic delivery.

What kinds of things do you get if you let them choose the produce for you? Dh is on board for this!! Sweet! But he's SO un-experimental and picky... I'd love to try new things but need to know how to prepare/eat them.

I ALMOST went with OMO - except I like meal planning up to a month ahead and not knowing what I was going to get didn't really work for me. I spoke with the gentleman who runs it and he was very very polite and informative.

Here is this week's box:
Living
1 - Green Leaf Lettuce
1 - Basil
1 - Pea Tender Sprouts
Fresh Veg
1lb - Leeks
1 - Broccoli
1 - Yellow Onion (2lb)
1 - Mini Yellow Potato (2lb)
1 - Baby Carrots (1lb)
Fruit
1 - Lemon
1 - Grapefruit Rio Red
2 - Navel Oranges
1 - .5lb Flame Raisins
My kids love the pea sprouts and last time the basil was amazing and I made the best pesto out of it.
Once the food is a bit more seasonal there are some really good resources with recipes for local food. I used this one a lot:

Have any of you who use OMO had service by Express Organics as well? I am curious how they compare.
Right now I use Express Organics but would move over for better selection etc.

I have used both. EO has more produce and variety right now but so much of what they get is imported. OMO is all local which is why I switched.

OMO was all local in the summer/fall, but not so much now. They make a big effort to get local things, and a lot of it is local, but the fruit isn't local at the moment. Or rather, local is relative in the winter. I think they're trying to stay within North America right now.
I am really happy with the service.
