The Kozy Carrier is a MT. Nothing too different to set it apart... I believe the body is a bit wider than a BabyHawk and the straps are slightly padded and I think a touch wider than a BH. Other than that, not much else to say. Both Siana and ZabsMom make custom MTs that are the same basic design for a fraction of the cost. Why not have her look at theirs or another mama made MT?

Never. I plan to wear my next child from the first moment I feel up to it Different carriers, however, suit different stages and body type differently.

I'm thinking of buying a wrap, after reading some of the posts (and getting some info from Myrrah) I think that might be best for the newborn-4 month stage for me. I need something that will keep baby centre aligned to avoid the back/hip issues I usually get. What would be the best wrap for spring/summer? I saw a lady putting one on once and it was a little intimidating and looked like it would be very warm (lots of fabric). I would love to hit up a meeting but I work 8-2 so I'm hoping there will be a weekend/afternoon/evening meeting at some point.
Do people make wraps or is that something I would buy somewhere? Think Myrrah had mentioned a website, but I can't remember it now.

well, do you want a stretchy or woven? the standard stretchies are moby and sleepy wrap, although there is another brand called hot mama hemp/jersey blends that apparently are fabulous. alternatively you can just get tshirt fabric and hem it, a lot cheaper than buying a moby new although you can pick them up at decent prices on thebabywearer.com in the discussion forums (fsot forum).
if you want a woven, this will let you carry the baby through toddlerhood and do back carries, look for storchenwiege, didymos, or girasol (new weave is more supportive). there are other brands too like bbslen, but those are the most popular wovens. i cannot say enough about the woven wrap. i loved my stretchy too though. but wovens have changed my whole orientation to babywearing as part of mothering. i use mine every day, often for hours/day. i love love love them.

The other stretchy wrap is the Cuddly Wrap which they do have at Cheeky Monkey if you're interested. I've lent mine out
Or you can go the gauze warp route, i have a Rolz and Sassy gauze wrap and quite like it, though I never got the hang of back carries in it and I had the Mei Tai so I didn't try too hard. It is much lighter fabric than other types of wraps. Drop me a line if you want to borrow it.

I've had a stretchy and woven wrap (that I got from Myrrah! lol) and I have to say, the stretchy was good for the first couple of weeks.. after that I and I tried the woven, I'm SO in love with the woven wrap! I wear Noah in it ALL THE TIME! Everywhere!
Yes.. there is a lot of material.. but it's very light weight (it doesn't get as warm as the stretchy wrap did), and Noah loves being in it. Check out a meeting, or I'm sure one of us could meet up with you and help you settle baby into it! It all seems so very intimating at first, but once you get a couple wraps down, you're good to go!

Jenelen - I'm curious how you like your mei tai. My son has just turned 4 months and is 19 pounds. He has been in a cuddlywrap since he was born and it still supports him really well. It is supposed to work up to 35-40 pounds and I believe it!

mominjuly- perhaps the cuddly is of a thicker material than my sleepy wrap. I found I loved the wrap until I tried something else and realized there were more supportive things out there! I noticed near the end I wasn't truly hands free any more as I had to support him with one arm while we were out walking or he'd tend to sag.
I adore the mei tai I've borrowed from Ali! It allows me to be truly hands free with my big 19 lb baby. The biggest perk for me though is that with the mei tai I can carry DS on my back easily and with him being so heavy it is better for my back to have him up there while I'm doing housework than on my front. I can do just about any cleaning job (aside from perhaps scrubbing floors) with DS on my back.
However I am considering trying a woven wrap for front carries....

what brand is your ring sling? I have a rolz and sassy and I still carry my 30lb 2 year old.. granted for A LOT less time that I used to, but I can still comfortably carry him for short periods of time.
I have heard great things about the wrap around style ones.. they were a bit too constrictive for me, but I have spoken to moms who swear by them. you can check out this link.. http://cheekymonkey.ca/RolzWrap.htm

I meant to ask as well... is there a video or something that shows back wearing?
I LOOOOOOOOOOVE my ring sling, I got it when my son was 2 wks old, (he LIVED in it for the first few months).. and now he is almost 2.5. I still LOVE it for the convienience.. (going out without a stroller.. when he gets tired he can have a rest in the sling).. I felt like I was a pro but I still haven't quite figured out the back wearing yet lol. I tried it a couple times, it seemed akward so i just went back to the side. Is there a trick to it? or is it just the same as the front wearing just.. slide him around back?

My bamberoo arrived! The padded waist and shoulder are heaven! I had my babe up there for almost 2 hours today while DH and I cleaned out our storage closets. I never thought I'd have time to do that again!

Hi Ladies
I was directed here by Leslie (already I love this place!). I'm new to babywearing. I've been poking around and I'd love to come to the next babywearing gethering! Lots of questions to ask. I had a Peanut Shell sling which wasn't as easy or comfortable to use as I hoped. I switched it yesterday for a Cuddly Wrap and haven't tried it out yet.
