    Default adobe photoshop question?

i just bought adobe photoshop elements 6, and don't know where to start. If you have this program i would love to know where you learned how to do everything...i am very overwhelmed right now. I am trying to figure out how to take a regular color photo...make it black and white except keep color in certain areas....like my kids on the beach all black and white and their sand toys in color (example)..it doesn't give you much info in the help tools...so maybe there is a site that will help teach me how to use program??
    would love anyones input. thanks

copy the layer with image so you have two layers of both of the same image. Now, the top layer needs to be black and white and then take 'eraser' (at the top left you can see where to soften the eraser) use curser to erase the area that you would like to be colour (what you are doing is erasing that area from the black and white layer - photo - to reveal the layer (colour) below.
Now, this is what my DH said tonight ( a graphic design grad) and he said he was going to check it out tomorrow with a "simpler way" to explain it.
I too wondererd if you could just select the image you want to remain a colour (with your select image tool) and take the other layer and make it black and white- to be simple.
WOW, Hope I didnt confuse you! We'll let you know

If you go to this blog you may find help: http://spraguelab.squarespace.com/bl...iday-tutorials

The author of the blog does "Photoshop Friday" and does a different tutorial on fridays on ways that you can use photoshop. Some of them work really well.

    Default class?

Hi there, I'm a graphic designer, and use Photoshop CS3. I'm sure Elements is just a simpler version. I'd be available to do some teaching if you're interested!
