Default cold weather - school closure?

I found this interesting in light of a recent debate:

Tuesday, March 06, 2007 | Updated at 1:09 PM EST

Cold weather closes city and area schools
Schools in Guelph and Wellington County were closed today as a result of severe cold.

The local Catholic and public boards adhere to a policy that sees schools closed when wind-chilled temperatures reach -35C.

The school closures come a day after several bus routes were cancelled during the school day Monday for weather reasons.
What did the school boards around London do for the cold temps today?

I believe they have a certain tempurature that they keep the kids inside. They still go to school, just not out for recess. My dd was complaining about that the other day.

our boys went to school but they aren't allowed outside so they let them use the gym at different times seems to work to expell extra energy.
