    Default rings for a sling...

Any recommendations on where/what rings to get for a ringsling? Are the metal cow rings from TSC an option?

From what I understand the only good ones are from www.slingrings.com . I think you can use the cow ones but they're heavier and have seams.

I guess it depends what kind of fabric you want to use. If you have something bulkier, you'd want bigger rings, but if it's slippery or thin fabric, you'd want smaller rings. I dunno about nylon versus aluminum, I think it also has to do with the slipperiness of the fabric? I'm sure someone else will know more about this than I will LOL. I know they have packages where you can buy a sample of each, I think? Depending on how many you're making, that might work...

Too bad the Babywearing group just passed. Someone there has a bunch of slingrings and maybe you could have tried some out or asked for advice. If you don't mind waiting a month... LOL! You could also join www.thebabywearer.com (I think?) and post on there what kind of fabric you have and stuff, and I'm sure someone there will know what you need.

Awesome, thanks! I've got 6 months to make it, so time is on my side.

My mom made a sling for my 2nd child. She used a heavy woven fabric that she brought from El Salvador and two rings from a saddle supply store - probably from a horses halter. They are heavy-duty, but work quite nicely.

Did you end up ordering some sling rings? I used harness rings for my first sling and while they are certainly strong, not only do they not look nearly as good but they weigh a ton compared to the aluminum rings from slingrings. They are well worth the money and shipping is quite reasonable too. I believe they took about 2 weeks to arrive.

Yup, I ordered them from SlingRings. Thanks for the suggestion, they are great! I looked in TSC & harness shops - they didn't have the size I was looking for.
Anyhow, I ordered a set of medium & a set of large (I didn't know which would work better with my fabric), and with shipping they came to something like $7.00. Well worth the money.

Glad it worked out! I wound up getting some when I made my sling. I looked a few places and couldn't find the right size/material. I was impressed their shipping wasn't too much at all!
