Hi and welcome! I'm in the Central/East end near the Western Fair grounds. I'm currently on mat leave with our 3 month old son. We also have 2 daughters who are 2 and 6 yrs old. DH and I have been in London for awhile, but we did live in Pickering for about 18 months when I first took a job in Toronto. I've since been able to transfer and that's how we ended up back here! I'd love to meet up sometime

I'm near Bonaventure & Napoleon - welcome to the neighbourhood!

    I have a 3yr old and so-close-to-7-yr-old girl.

There's some really great parks & natural areas in east London that my kids really like.

Around the corner from you is Saddy Ave... at the bend in Saddy is a pathway to a wooded area. My kids love going there to explore. There's a fantastic playground through the woods at JP Robarts PS. We also love hanging out at Kiwanis park. They have a meager splashpad, but an awesome (really really awesome) park just off Kiwanis Park drive. My kids are too old for the early years centres - but if you get a chance there is an early years playgroup at the Summerside church that is well attended and there's also a playgroup at the Early Years centre on Dundas that was phenomenal when Tina ran it (I hope she still does). The East London Library has some good program there (books for babies, ballet) that my kids enjoy.

If you're new to London and want some time away from the kids you can always join a women's social club. I joined Beta Sigma Phi over a year ago and it's wonderful - there are chapters that meet monthly and some that meet biweekly to socialize. Each chapter meets a minimum of 18 times a year, and they have various age groups. I'm in a chapter for 35-45yr old women and we meet one Sunday a month from brunch & then do other socials. There's chapters for younger, older, career chapters, etc. There's a cost of around $80 a year to join into a chapter which covers dues to our International organization. If you're intersted in joining let me know and I can PM you the name of the lady who looks after city-wide recruitment.
