Default Where do you buy your Meat?

I am tired of buying my meat at the grocery store. I find it just expensive.

Is their any good meat markets on the west side of London or close buy. I don't want to buy tons of meat, just enough for week to week purchases.

We drive to the Mount Brydges Abattoir on Fridays. It's worth it.

We do the Abattoir when we can too. My husband asked once and they said it's local meat, does anyone know more about that? Is it grass-fed? Finished with corn?

We got to Western Meats on Southdale Road (in where the Giant Tiger is). We don't buy all of our meat there as we get some from Costco as well. We like to buy our steak there.

Western Meats as well except we go to the Adelaide/Hamilton location. Their steak is awesome!

The Hungary Butcher, either in the Western Fair Farmers Market on Sat. or across the street from it on Dundas (Tues - Sat. I think). I've never been disappointed with anything we've tried - the bacon and burgers are the best!

I am curious, I have looked at some of the meat places before and have found them more expensive than the grocery store. Is it actually cheaper than the grocery store?

I buy my meat at No Frills, and sometimes Food Basics. I watch for sales and then freeze it. My main concern is cost, and not so much grain-fed or organic or taste. I recently bought steak that tasted good and cost $7 for a piece that fed 4 of us with left overs. DS2's dad bought steak at Loblaws and brought it over last night and it was $35, although it was seasoned and was a bit more meat, and the taste was amazing -but I would never spend that much on meat.

I divide my meat purchases at Costco and the Food Island (at Wonderland x Oxford). I enjoy the meat from The Food Island for slow cooking/pork chops/ribs. I find their produce section hard to beat from other grocery stores.

It really depends what you're buying and if the grocery store is having a sale or not. We buy bulk at the butcher and then they give us discounts because of that. The quality is definitely better at the butcher though. We've had some gross grocery store experiences like one time Walmart ground beef had a cracker in it and a couple times we bought meat at Loblaws to use the same night and when we opened the package it was rotten. We go to Kohn's now because we trust them.
