    Default Guilty

Well, our Mayor Joe Fontana has been found guilty of uttering a forced document, fraud and breech of trust. Everyone has been talking about this for so long but I can't help but feel pretty sad about it all.

    Thoughts?

I have no sympathy for him. He knew what he was doing. He makes a lot of money as a mayor. He didn't have to stoop so low but yet he did. It's shameful and embarrassing.
So now what's the next step?... big fine or jail or even both.

I don't feel sad for him, I feel sad for our city. We put faith in someone to run our city and we were 100% betrayed.

I somehow doubt he will get jail time. I'd be very surprised if he did. That being said, a fine would basically be a slap on the wrist.

I was and continue to be shocked that he would put his reputation and livelihood on the line for a lousy $1700.

I don't think he deserves jail time - it's not typical to give jail time for $$ amount of fraud - it's usually restitution and community service.

it's not only about the money though. Breech of trust plays a mayor role here especially that he is a public figure and I think there is a good chance he might end up in jail. Just my opinion. Right now it's just a guessing game. This whole situation is so disappointing

I am so happy that he was found guilty. Even if he doesn't go to jail his life in politics is over. I really hope he resigns. I am sure he will appeal and this will get dragged on for a little while yet. I also hope that a new law gets passed that has had its second reading and he will lose his nice fluffy pension that he gets from being in government.

With the charges being a felony he may possibly never be able to go to the states or anything else for that matter.

I dont feel sorry for him he knew what he was doing.

And since it was heard by a judge and not jury I dont think there is really any re ourse for him to do.

I feel sorry for our city as a whole as to how the Mayor has acted

What I think is funny (not haha funny) is that the majority of people think Joe should be punished yet the Liberals did essentially the same thing but with BILLIONS of dollars and get reelected. Things that make me say "hmm"
