Question Where to put amounts on taxes?

My daughter works for VON and Canadian Deafblind Association.

She received a T4A for CDA and there is an amount in box 48. When I put the amount in it prompts me to fill out a T2125. I am unsure how to fill this out.

Also she didn't receive a T4 or T4A for VON, do we claim the amount she made from her last cheque stub?

    Hi there
The T4A puts the income in the fees for services box - which are considered self employment income so form t2125 is correct. Your daughter can claim mileage expenses and anything she had to purchase to do the work.
She should track down VON to have them send her another copy of either the T4 or T4A that they SHOULD have issued to her - failing that use the last paycheque info ..... but try hard to track down the slip. CRA gets a copy of all slips prepared by employers and it's an uber pain to get reassessed.
    Hope that helps!

VON doesn't give out T4's if you are a support worker. You are considered self employed. You can claim mileage and other expenses if you keep track.

VON would need to provide a T4A then .... Unless your daughter is invoicing them for every home visit? But you mentioned chq stubs and info on it? What kind of info?

Huh ... and I just googled and VON are currently hiring support workers in london? Which implies employee. Pretty unusual to be told where to go and when and for how long by a company that secures the contracts with families/homes directly and still be considered self employed (but in theory could be possible).

No VON does not give out T4's or T4A's. At least they haven't for the last 2 years anyway.

If she isn't going to get one then treat the total income as self employed .... On the t2125 form. Claim any expenses she spent (% of miles for work vs personal times all auto expenses like gas and insurance and license and repairs/maintenance etc).

All self employment income is subject to the "employee" and "employer" (your both when your self employed) portion of CPP so you should see it pop up if using software to complete

thanks for the input from everyone!
