    Default London Airport?

DD wants to see a real air plane and we won't be flying anywhere any time soon. I'm wondering if there is somewhere in London airport where you could watch planes take off without needing to go through security? It's been years since I've been there.

    Thanks!

Wait until the weather gets nicer and you can see them from many of the side streets. Or if she can handle a non-kid type restaurant, take her for lunch at Katana Cafe, ask for a window table. You can go down Crumlin past the airport and drive down any of the dead end streets (Blair, Aviation) and get out for a few minutes and watch.

My husband used to work in the Air Jazz building. If you go into their parking lot (it's to the right of the regular parking lot) you can watch planes from the fence. I used to walk up to the fence with my kids like every other week in the summer for over 2 years. It's not super close to the runway, but sometimes the planes that taxi will come close. Occasionally, there will be one out behind the Jazz building that you can see up close.

The Katana Cafe does have fantastic food if you go there.

Right before the Parking lot where the hangers are there is a legion hall. There is a park bench and in the spring you can take a lunch and watch the planes every 5 minutes. We did this a couple of times when ds was young. There's a plane in or out every 5 minutes.
