    Default Climbing

    Hey, long time no....see?

anyhow. DD is 17 months old. This morning she sccessfully climbed out of her crib. I think she still needs to be "contained" for sleep, but i cant risk her falling. Ideas? Im thinking i jist need to empty her room and put the mattress on the floor. She was a wee newborn not too long ago. What happened?!?

Eek! Mine never attempted to climb out of the crib, although if we had left DS2 in much longer, I'm sure he would have.

We moved DS1 into a toddler bed shortly before his second birthday since we needed the crib. I would move her mattress onto the floor like you mentioned since it's a good first step towards a big girl bed and you're not far off from that anyway
They grow up too fast, don't they?

Mine never climbed out of the crib, but for me, if they started - that would be the end of the crib.
Could you swap the crib out for the playpen instead? She wouldn't really be able to get a foothold that way.

    mattress on floor.

I would do the switch to the floor on a weekend when you and DH can be home to take turns putting her back in her room cause she will open the door and come out lol

yeah, mattress sounds like the safest option.
You can try with oversized pillows or cushions but safety wise i don't know. Can she open the door?...maybe putting a gate be helpful

Katie - tried sleep sack. She won't sleep in it and screams like she hates her life. She is a frailer whilst sleeping

sp -dh would have to get up. Also, with the opening to the stairs between her room and ours, fears of a tumble down them makes me even more nervous. Lever style door knob thwarter?

If she can climb the crib she may climb gates so I know some folks put baby gates 2 baby gates at the door one on top of tyhe other

wow your DD is a mover and a shaker!

I remember at that age in the warmer months when my DD went down for naps, I would catch her taking her clothes off including the diaper lol

I would put a gate at the top of the stairs, one that is mounted on the wall, not just a pressure mount. I would then put the mattress on the floor and try that. My dd stayed in her crib until she was 3 so I don't have the answers and I dread the bed. I am keeping dd2 in the crib for as long as she will stay.

switch door handles and put on one of those handle covers that make it so they can't open the door.
