Default Changing The name of Kellogg's Lane

some people feel that with the Kellogg's plant closing the name of Kellogg's Lane should be changed. It would cost the city around $3000 to do this. What are your thoughts?

Yes. I don't know to what but I do think it's worth 3 grand to change the name.

I'm not in the city, so I don't know the history surrounding the plant closing, but I would have thought it was historical and would just leave it alone. Especially if it's going to cost $3000!

I dont see why they need to change it, yes it sucks Kellogs is closing but they were still a big part of London for how many years so it still has history.

maybe it should instead be a reminder to why you dont name streets after companies?

While it sucks that Kellogg's is closing, it was still a part of our city at one point and that makes it part of our history. If it was important enough to have a street named after it, then it's probably still important enough to keep the street name in its memory.

Kellogg's was founded in Battle Creek, Michigan in the 1900's and came to London in 1924. So it's been here 90 years. I think that's deserving of keeping a street name.

That said, if it really bothers enough people, the name will be changed regardless of how anyone else feels. To what? Who knows at this point, but I can think of a lot more to do with $3000 then change a street name.

I also have no issue with keeping the name of the street. Over the years it was a huge part of our community even though that is going to come to an end.

And didn't the staff at Kelloggs do a lot for their community? Seems the name is worthy of being retained.

They have been in London for 100 years and provided many families with a good living. It is shame that they are leaving but that is a sign of our global economic times. They have contributed a lot to different organizations in our city as well. No they should not change the name.

I don't know if they should change it. I honestly don't even know where the street is.
I moved here 5 years ago, and when heading to Dorchester and areas I drive past Airport Rd. Apparently, they changed the name of Airport Rd. to Veteran's Memorial Parkway more than 5 years ago, but when I moved here people would tell me it was called Airport and that is the name that has stuck for me.
I don't know if people would remember the change.

yeah I don't see the need for that. They should focus on improving the city and what needs immediate attention and this is certainly not one of those things. Don't fix what's not broken
