    Default danger of snow forts

It seems that every year I hear of at least 1 child losing their life to a collapsed snow fort.

Sadly, there are a couple snow forts in my neighborhood and I hope there won't be any more tragedies.

That is so sad, my kids have always made snow forts and still do but there is always someone watching them to me playing in the snow is the same as swimming, someone should always be watching.

I think much of the danger is in tunnelling. So sad, such a preventable tragedy.

I know as a kid my brother was tunneling in our front yard on a road with a bit of traffic (bus route) - a police officer found him -- made him come out and then talked to my parents about it... Scared him (and my parents) pretty bad.

Our old neighbour had their son die because of this. He was 10 and crushed by the snow. He had made a tunnel in the big pile they would put in the middle of the court.

So sad for his family. I have talked to my kids about snow forts before but I need to remind DS again. We like to use our patio table ( that I never remember to bring in ) to make snow fronts that way the top can not collapse in on them.
