So strange - that DH and I were just talking about how Canadians were much more tolerant than Americans when it came to multi-culturism - to the point where Canadians accept other cultures in our society as a "norm" and when we travel to other countries we are respectful to other cultures.
I haven't seen the commercial - but I assume that the whole thing was done respectfully not sarcastically or anything... I don't know why anyone would have a problem with singing a song in many languages... besides it's not even like this is a national anthem or other offical song - heck the music came from an entire other song about Jerusalem as far as I know.....

It's a great commercial. Honestly if it were Canada the Beautiful and Coke made that commercial it would probably make me all teary and Canada-proud. I'm honestly floored at the response. I probably shouldn't be.

I was a bit surprised by the responses too AP. I agree if it were a Canadian commercial I'd have been bawling! I thought it was nicely done.

Incidentally, there are several spin off videos of this. You can watch each child sing the lyrics in their language and talk about it, as well as a behind the scenes video. I love it more as I watch more of them.

linked 2 but there are tons.

Wow! I guess even though parts of the country are beautiful there sure is a lot of ugliness going on. Nothing like showing your true colours, way to go Americans.

One of the ugly comments was posted from a church...and stated that was the national anthem! lol

The backlash over this commercial on twitter was horrifying.
I was appalled at the amount of bigotry I saw that night and it has continued on. It makes me feel so disheartened

I think they were always behind when it comes to accepting others . All the terrorism has made it worse with some cultures, which isnt fair.

It's so bizarre! I am surprised that any Americans would feel that way!

it's stupid. America is a land of immigrants anyway and so is Canada. Doesn't make sense at all. Shame on those people who think otherwise.
