    Default Crochet Hat Fix Help

DD was given this super cute hat for Christmas by my sister. This hat had not been worn once and the ear flaps on both sides started to unravel. The crafter who made this advised my sister that I (or my child) must have done something to snag it or catch it to cause it to unravel. The crafter is not really willing to fix the hat, since it is basically "my fault". The damage was actually noticed by my daycare provider when I was getting DD ready to go home, before DD actually wore it. Needless to say, I am quite disappointed.

So, can anyone fix this, or replicate the hat? I will buy the needed materials. I know nothing about crocheting......

I am sure it's fixable.....pumpkinsmom is a really good knitter and crocheter.....hopefully she will see this and be able to help you....maybe PM her. If you take it to Michaels, one of their "experts" may be able to give you some advice too. Good luck...it's really cute.

Im thinking its probably best you get it totaly re-made just in case there are other areas that are waiting to fall apart.

Ah ladies, you make me blush. I can't believe she wouldn't fix her hat. I am very specific with clients that I stand behind my work 110%.

Looks like she failed to knot her edges & secure them into the hat when she changed colours. It's a fairly easy fix, but I would be concerned that despite fixing the ear flaps, the rest will eventually fall apart.

It sucks that the crafter wouldn't stand behind her product. That's a sizable hole in a never worn product.

pumpkinsmom would be a great person to fix it!! Hopefully she sees this

ETA: oops! I should have refreshed before posting
