Default Has this happened to your baby

DD ate some cucumber yesterday for the first time. She had 4 bowel movements last night, and several today. The last three have been watery and tinged with blood and mucous. I'm calling the doctor first thing in the morning and trying not to worry. I think its just really irritated her digestive system. Eff you cucumber.

Something similar happened to my dd, but I cannot remember what she had eaten. The doctor said her bowel or anus (can't remember) had gotten irritated from the frequent bowel movements, and it never happened again. I know this vague information does not help much, but it's all I can remember!

Frequent BMs can absolutely cause irritation and bleeding.
I haven't yet seen this in my own children, but I have in my dog.
Calling your doctor is a great first step, but please try not to worry until after she's been seen. I'd hate for you to get all worked up for nothing. She may have an allergy to cucumber, you could probably get her tested for it.

Its not really diarrhea, just extra mucousy. Poor things straining and bearing down now, with nothing coming out. Shes not sick, shes her old self. I swear its the cucumber. She ate quite a bit and it was the first time.

Everyone I spoke with (re: professionals following O) said not to offer raw veggies this early as they are really hard on the tummy. I wouldn't rush her to the Dr for a few bloody stools in one day, esp since you seem to know what caused it.. I would watch her, and if they repeat I'd take her in.

She had a fever of 101.3 this morning. Took her to the ped walk in and he thinks its a virus. Told me not to eat diary for a few days although hes pretty sure an allergy isnt the cause. I wont give her cucumber again just incase.

You could phone the middlesex health unit Infantline open until 10 tonight. 519-675-8444. I have called before. Very nice nurses. You could ask about piggy backing meds if you are concerned.

It also possibly teething.. O spikes a fever when he is. Poor moop. FYI, cutting out dairy for "a few days" is a waste of time... it takes two weeks to see a change if it were an allergy. So if you're not willing to stop for two weeks, don't bother.

I cut out dairy in my diet when I was nursing DS2 and we noticed a huge difference within 3 days! He was sleeping better and generally happier. He ended up having a hard time with lactose until he was a little over 2 years old.

No teeth coming, plus she just cut two no problem. She does however look like she has a canker sore on her gum! Ouchie!
the doctor doesnt think its a dairy thing as symptoms would have been earlier and she has a fever. Its not as high but still at 99
