Default grazing instead of eating meals

DS is 22 months, and lately his eating habits have changed. He no longer will sit for a meal. It seems like he just wants to graze throughout the day. I will put out a plate of food and he snacks on it over hours whenever he's hungry. Has anyone else's child gone through this? His Dr. Doesn't seem worried, she said he determines how he eats, and I determine what. Makes sense. Just wondering how normal it is.

DS grazes alot on weekends. As long as he is getting enough to fill him up I don't worry.

my kids grazed at that age too.....sometimes we still have days that we graze and don't 'sit' for a regular meal - sometimes the grazing days are healthier because it's usually cut up fruits/veggies etc

That's it, I cut up a huge pear and he grazed at it for about an hour and a half.
I have noticed over the last few weeks, with the nicer weather, we aren't eating the 'big' family dinner, but a smaller, grazing sort of meal, which is probably contributing to his behaviour. With the nicer weather, the bigger meals are out with our family.
