Totally legit, and clever way of market research.

Yes! It's totally legit - my co-workers got me hooked on it

AP - It's kind of like online coupons, except better. Download the app (it's free). Each Thursday, a new list of deals comes out (around 10 items or so?). It will tell you how much $ you will get off an item (google it and you can see current offers). It's like a coupon, except it's usually worth more than your average coupon and I find there is more variety than what I can easily find coupons for (at least in Canada).
You don't get money off or back right away though. When you buy your groceries, the app will walk you through taking a picture of your receipt as proof you bought your items and then you check off what you bought. The $ off goes into your online account. When you hit $20 they mail you a cheque.

I get very excited when I can combine it with price-matching. Two weeks ago, I price matched hot dogs at No Frills that were advertised at Fresh Co for $1.88. Well, the Checkout51 deal was for $2 off - I got the hotdogs for free and made $0.12! The only thing is that you have a limit of 1 item per deal.

it all depends on what you buy. Checkout 51 has different products every week, if you don't buy things on the list then no money goes into the account.

My hubby thinks I am crazy, since starting mat leave, I have been price matching, using coupons and just started doing my own coupon trains. When I first started it took quite a bit of time but now I know where to look on line and it only takes an extra 20 mins on Thursday nights with the flyers and my coupon binder. I almost bought an iphone for Checkout51 but now that they have it for the android, that is the route I will be going.
