Default Do non-residents pay GST on American imports into Canada?

That won't be remaining in the country.

I want to buy homeschooling supplies, mostly books, including a microscope. I was thinking of getting a PO box in a border town and having a bunch of stuff shipped to it that I could pick up while visiting Canada. It is hard to find places that cheaply ships to Canada, and even hard to find stuff that will ship to Dubai.

If I were to go to the USA while on vacation in Canada, pick up my stuff that will then be transported out of Canada to Dubai, will I have to pay any gst or anything on it?

I was also thinking of picking up clothing and other shopping items so I will go over the personal max.

    Hello there!

As a non-resident CDN who is simply carrying the foreign bought goods through Canada on route out of Canada - NO.

Only where you live in Canada and intend to consume the goods in Canada personally (not for a business) do you self assess on the import.

    Otherwise your good

    Good luck!

I recently tried to do this, but was told by the USPS that in order to get a US PO Box, I would have to have a proper US address of residence.

As an aside I've shipped to a number of places in Port Huron without an issue. Just need an email address - depending on the size of the package(s) the cost is anywhere from $5 to $30 for them to receive and hold for your pick-up
