We're just finishing up a swimming session with our boys, and are starting up skating lessons. (They're 3.5 and 4.5.) They're enjoying both.

Have you considered Scouts? You can join anytime. The yearly fee is minimal.

my only recommendation is look at different troupes and ask what activites they have planned. they also offer 2 weeks to try it out before paying. Every troupe is different and very much depends on the leaders

Swimming? There are many options out there in terms of swimming - group lessons, semi private (where two or three siblings can be with the same teacher) and of course private lessons.

Martial arts is also popular, but can be pricey. You can see if Spectrum still has spots open for some martial arts classes. They are relatively inexpensive and a good tester to see if your child is interested, before you start doling out the big bucks.

I know people (dad's especially ) often are very opinionated about this, but what about dance classes? Many dance studios don't charge boys who want to come to dance classes. An honestly the boys I've seen doing tap dancing seem to LOVE it.

2 of 3 of my boys play hockey - it's a little more affordable at the Tyke age - He would have one practice and one game a week.
We also do TaeKwonDo - but it's pricey IMO as well.

There are classes a Family Karate that are for little ones. I have been told that you pay a monthly rate and can go as many times in the month as you like. Not sure if its accurate as someone told me. They are located on Wharncliffe near Baseline.
