Do you mean to insure it while it is empty? it is really, really expensive to insure an empty home. We found it was about a grand a month, and then most places will not insure you at all after three months. So best to keep tenants in with little time between if possible!
We had our home insurance with the same people as our car insurance, for one house, and the other house was with some other company, which we did eventually switch to for our vehicle.
So I don't think you have to use your current person, no.
