    Default was i right?

yesterday we drove my niece to and from the park. shes in a booster seat now. anyways she had the shoulder strap behind her. we pulled over and made her put the seat belt on correctly. she cried becuase thats how she wears it in he parents car.

so we get to my parents house and i confront my sister. she says yes that is how they have the seat belt. her hubby told her thats how kids are suppose to wear it, that iot was th safe way. i told her it wasn't safe and if sahe couldnt sit with the seat belt properly then she shouldnt be in a booster seat yet. she said the strap rubs on my nieces face (i think) and its not comfortable.

so I pretty much yelled at my sister for this, i was in the right, right?

I think your right about being safer. Why did you yell at her though? If she thought it was the safest way probably emailing her a couple of links would have changed her mind.

I would have said something to my sister but yelling and getting confrontational was probably not the best way to make your point.

She need to wear the belt across her chest. If she isn't tall enough then they should have the full back booster and it comes with an attachment to help with the belt.

In case you didn't notice in my previous post, I said that I would have said something also. Safety is ABSOLUTELY the most important in any situation.

Also, if you look at the other posts you must have posted this at the exact same time I was posting my reply.

We used to do this when we were kids so that it didn't dig into our necks.

You're right Ivveyy. If the seatbelt isn't fitting right in a booster perhaps she's still too small for it and should be in the 5pt still.

^^this. I just removed the back off daughter's booster, I really didnt want to but its had the highest height now and she is so tall and weighs 75lbs. Now I have to find the seatbealt cover so it doesnt rub on her neck. She is almost 8.

According to height and weight my 6 year old son could probably go without the booster back but I am going to hold on another year I hope.

We used to do it too, for comfort- a lot of the time we didn't even wear seatbelts But that was 20-25 years ago and now know it's not safe to wear it that way. Maybe her husband just didn't know

Most low back boosters have a clip that can help adjust the seat belt lower (eg not in her face).

I know off hand that the Graco Turboboosters come with a clip, as do the Harmony Backless, Evenflo Amps. These are not $$ seats. The Harmony is $18 at Walmart.

If the seat belt is not hitting properly, us the shoulder belt adjustment clip to keep it off the face/neck.
