    Smile $50 front yard garden

Here are some picture of our front garden. It use to all be grass with the exception of a few plants. We transplanted some from our back garden, snagged some perennials off family members and went to a few perennial sales I saw on kijiji. All in we spent just under $50! I still want to add a pathway in the garden and paint the porch... but off to a decent start!

Very nice!! I love the black eyed susans...I need to get some of those into our garden too to add some colour. It looks great and big bonus that you were able to do it for that price!

looks good! Is that a black mulch? I think I'm going to get that for my front garden. There's a cat that's digging and pooping in it, sometimes digging up plants so I'm thinking the black mulch would make it not so appetizing for the cat!

    Cats still dig in mulch
I put coffee grinds in to keep them away and planted prickly pear cactus where they were digging to go under my porch. Seems to be helping but they'll still come once in a while. I can give you a piece of the prickly pear if you want.

Looks good! I LOVE my Edible Front Yard book I got from SS Whirlygirl. Lent it out to my sister right now. I plan on making lettuce borders in my front garden next year.
Stop thinking you’re not ready. – Nobody ever feels 100% ready when an opportunity arises. Because most great opportunities in life force us to grow beyond our comfort zones, which means we won’t feel totally comfortable at first.

Looks great! And your porch looks familiar, but I live in OEV too so I've prob walked buy it $50 is awesome, I usually grab a few annuals b/c I'm afraid of spending too much. I never thought to look on Kijiji for sales.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check out this book. I dream of the day I'll have a green roof! Even just the roof of my porch would do.
