I go to MI for our Dr. appts. The kids' pediatrician is awesome. I know her personally since I was best friends with her daughter growing up, so I trust her and can call her at home if I ever have a question. For well baby check-ups, it can be up to a two week wait, but if a child is sick, they get in that day. If you don't want to wait for a well baby visit, you can go to any of the other doctors in the practice. There is about 7 of them, so chances are one of them has an opening sooner.

We get in with appropriate timeframes base on the situation - physicals are usually a couple of months, emergency appointments (as determined by my doc are usually same day or next, again depending on how urgent it seems). I had an issue with my wrist - it was a couple of weeks. It wasn't urgent, but needed to be looked at. I know for physicals, there are certain appointment times set aside specifically for them, and in order to ensure there is time available for non-routine, and emergency appointments, there is a wait to get in. I've never had a concern about getting in to my doctor

My dr. Is amazing! Always get in for 'emergency' appointments...if she can't o it the other dr. In her office does...she also is part of the Dr. Relief service which I can book appt for anytime after 5pm and all weekend...really nice to have when it's not serious enough for emerg (and you don't have to wait). My dr. Also delivers babies, I love that she has known my kids since day they were born and had a huge part in it!

Yeah, most doctors in Canada are way over-worked and have a very hard time fitting people in last-minute. Down here, I haven't had any problems getting into my doctor, but on the other hand if I ever couldn't get in, there are no walk-in clinics - we'd have to go to Emerg.

We go to Byron Family Medical Centre which is run by LHSC- there are about 6 doctors there who work in a team, along with nurses, social workers etc. I'm not sure if you'd call it a downside, but you can usually get in within the next day or 2 if you're willing to see a resident. If you want to see one physician in particular it can be up to a month for something non-urgent.
However, although you see a resident, most of the time they have to run things by the head doctors- and if you come in with something serious they will get the head doctor to come and take a look.
I would never go back to any other kind of practice- you may not always get to see your doctor, but there is always someone covering vacations etc.
Heck if they had a nurse-practitioner led clinic we would go there as well.

My family dr is the same way - about 4-5 week wait even if emergency.
So when DS2 was born I swtiched to a ped - they have walk-in clinic week days and evenings and I can make appointments. I can get an appointment that week or can go to walk-in.
Its the rexall building at wonderland/oxford.
SO's family dr was horrible so he goes to the walk-in around the corner and sees the one dr - he calls before hand and finds out when he's working and then goes at that time/day -or if its just a repeat script he goes and sees anyone and its all in his file (I think there are only 3 drs there so you see same ones).

I love my doctor. If I am sick or dd is sick we can get in same day. If it is a regular appt I can usually get an appointment that week or definitely the next. He and 5 doctor's also run an after hours clinic on evenings and weekends so if I can't get in during the day I can always get in during the night. Only those who are patients can go there, and you call for an appt. My doctor is thorough and great.

We have to wait weeks or more. I usually just wait until late afternoon and call the after hours clinic instead, only one time they were already booked up and couldn't fit us in. DS had a LOT of ear infections last year so they were a life saver.

That's where we go too. I am not a big fan of it. I don't like having to repeat everything everytime we go because it's a different resident but I am thankful that we do have a Dr. even though I have never ever met him in person in the last 9 years I've been a patient..

We get in same day at our doctor's office, if not, next day for sure. He even squeezes us in if I just show up, but I almost always call first and they tell me to just head over.
I had Dr Rigby (she delivered 2 out of 3 children) I loved her, she is awesome, when the kids were younger.

The kids' dr is Dr. Pavri. Love, love, love her!! If either is sick she will see them that day, or at worst the next day. She's called me at home to check on how they're doing afterwards more than once. I love that she listens to me and takes my feelings and opinion very much into acct when she's determining treatment. And I love that she tends to have a common-sense, naturopathic approach. She'll easily prescribe meds, but first explains home remedies first.
