Do you get good service from your LO's Dr?
I called DS's Dr to make an appointment for some of his immunizations and a general check-up and they had to book me 4 weeks out.
Then I called yesterday to get in to see her because I was worried that DS wasn't getting enough fluids the last few days as he hasn't been feeling well, and again, even though he was sick, her secretary tried to book me a week out.
I am super annoyed with her office and am wanting to switch to another Dr. We have only seen her once for his first shots and checkup, so I'm not really attached to her yet, even though I have heard great things.
What kind of service do you get from your LO's Dr? Can you get in to see them quickly if they are sick? Do you have to wait for weeks to get in for their check-ups?

Sounds familiar!!! My doctor's office is the same way! They book so much that they have nothing available for weeks at a time! Which is frusterating as I always end up being referred to urgent care clinics! UGH! We are hoping to switch me and this LO to my DF's doctor, as he can get in the day of if need be!

mine has been pretty good. FOr things like shots it is usually a week or two but I dont' mind to much. When they are sick I have often gotten in that same day. Now last week I called on Fri and wanted in but he's only there half a day and they wanted to book me in for the Monday. We opted out but normally they're pretty good.

My Dr's office is good for getting you in but only because they are a teaching practice so they have residents. If we want to see our Dr. it's always a few weeks away but we can almost always get in the same day to see a resident.

Same here. I kind of expect a young baby will always be seen the day you call. But on the other hand, it might be nice to see the same doctor each visit, so that's the trade-off.

Unfortunately, I think this is the way it goes with many family doctors. Ours is usually pretty good, but we haven't had very many situations where we need to be seen within a day or two. We have used the pediatric walk in clinic in Masonville, although there is wait, they are good. I have heard the the walk in clinic near Remark is quite good as well. We make all of our immunization / general check up appointments at least a month in advance and have no problems making the appt. I have to make my annual physical appt about 3-4 months in advance to get the time I want (1st appt in the morning).
It can be very hard to find a Dr that meets all of your needs and who you 'click' with, it is a reflection of the sad state of our medical system.

wow. this makes me appreciate my family doctor. If ds is sick she always gets him in same day and the few times I've needed to see her she also gets me in same day.
For something like immunizations, if I just need the shots and not a consult with the doctor I can usually come in a nytime as long as I call and make sure a nurse is available.

We have a ped. and he's awesome! Call and we're in! The best part about him is that he also does an after hours clinic so if they can't book you, you can go to the after hours clinic.

The girls and I have an awesome doctor. If one of the girls is sick, they will get them in right away, usually the same day. For non-emergent issues, we book a few weeks out.

No, we have to wait 2 months to get an appointment with her. I've pretty much given up booking appointments with her. When we do finally get in I find her very judgemental and short with me. I would like to switch doctors.

I know it is easy to be frustrated with doctors, especially when it seems you are always at walk-ins anyways.
On the other hand you should all just be happy you have a doctor at all. I went a few years without a doctor and I am a moderately severe asthmatic.

We take our boys to Dr Ramadan (Ped) & he is awesome! We've never had a problem getting the boys in for appointments & he is great with the kids too!
My own Dr is pretty awesome too It took me a # of years to finally get a good one, so I hope she sticks around for a long time! She's taking a 6 month maternity leave in next few days though but has a replacement all lined up, which is good!

Oh, no, this is just his Ped, We have been on a waiting list for a family doctor since July. It's ridiculous! My family doctor is in Windsor, and she is a cousin by marriage, so I could get in to see her when I'm down there, but in London, this is horrible!
