    Thumbs up LF: household scraps

We're building a barbie house for Christmas on the cheap. So I'm looking for anything that can be repurposed into the house. i.e. carpet, tile, paint.

Also welcome is any creative ideas.

    TIA

Oh this sounds exciting and like so much fun.

    Here are some ideas:
Carpet: depending on the size of the room in the doll house, you may be able to just use free carpet samples from carpet places (but imagining this, wouldn't it be too thick to use real carpet?).

Tiles: if no one happens to have any on here, you can buy vinyl tiles at Home Depot (and similar stores) sometimes for as cheap as 80 cents for a sq. foot.

Paint: You can buy those really small cans of paint at Home Depot usually for around $5. This could be used for the outside of the house.

You could also use dollar store paint and mix to find the perfect colour for the interior walls (wouldn't recommend it for the outside of the house which will probably see more wear). At the dollar store they sell these little bottles of paint for $1 or 2 for $1.

You can also find that shiny material stuff (used for other crafts) to make an imitation mirror).

Shingles: if you decide to go that route,.........I would post on here to see if someone has extra pieces lying around.

Please take a pic when your done, and show us how great it looks!

IME real carpet is too thick for a Barbie house. You can use a fabric though, like a velvet and glue it down as carpet.

Most dollar stores have peel and stick tiles. You could also use felt as carpeting.
