Default Help could she have broken her toe?

DD was helping me with the Halloween decorations this morning and she dropped a wooden door hanger on her toe. It hit right in the nail bed I believe because it is purple there. It is a little swollen and she can wiggle it. She normally moves right on after being hurt but she is still crying and really favoring that foot. Should I just keep an eye on her, or should I take her to a Dr. The poor little girl has been crying on and off for the last hour.

there isn't a thing they can do for a broken toe. Your best bet if you think it is broken or very badly bruised is to tape it to the toe next to it. That is the only thing they would do at the doctor. Make sure you keep it iced.

I did that once and I think the pain was from the toe being swollen under the nail. The pain went away once the swelling went down. Have you iced it at all?

I would take your LO in to the doctor just in case. For your peace of mind.

I called our family Dr and they suggested taking her in, she has blood under her nail the doc said they sometimes drain the blood to help relieve it, but that wasn't necessary and not something we were going to put DD through. It was her big toe.
