Default Its too cold for shorts..

How cold does it have to be (daytime high) for you to say "its too cold for shorts."

I know you can wear shorts under pants and all that, but when is it just too cold IYO?

    How about a poll

definately too cold for shorts. Perfect jean and t-shirt weather.
eta-for me it's 20 degrees and under that pants go on. If the morning is too cold and it's going to warm up over 20 she will still wear pants.

I think it's too cold when it's less then 18 degrees out at any time during the day.
That said, my kids disagree with me and even if I pack away their shorts they will find them and wear them until the snow starts to fly. Frankly, I am usually in too much of a rush in the am to argue with them about it.

Too cold! I live in the country though so it always feels colder with the wind here.

DS went to school in shorts today, it was 15 this morning, going up to 20 so its ok.

That said, most days we do t-shirts, jeans and a hoodie.

we are still in shorts here. A few cooler rainy days they had pants on but for the most part if it's going to be reaching upwards of 18 we'll still wear shorts. Or even capri's on cooler days than that.

I will still shorts in -15 weather if I am just running the dog for a walk of less than 10 minutes I don't like changing from shorts that I wear inside to pants just to walk the dog.

D is 11 and therefore if she chooses to wear shorts I don't argue with her and I also don't listen to her complain of being cold either

I think it's an individual thing. for example, some ppl would be freezing in shorts @ a temp of 20, where as others are fine wearing them when it's only 8 or less out. Everybody has a diff body temp than the next person. Some feel the cold quicker than others, some sweat more than others.

Sometimes, on days like today I'll let my kids wear shorts with long sleeve shirts...they usually have socks and running shoes on so really, only about 1/3 of their legs is exposed. Allows me to get as many wears out of them as possible before A) they grow right out of them since they likely won't fit next summer and B) I have to sit there and try to sort and store 4 kids' worth of clothing! Urgh!

If it is below 18 - no short, that being said, I still put my dd in a skirt or dress with only thin tights over her legs, so not really much of a difference, but my dd loves to wear skirts so she will do this in the winter as well 9with snow pants)

ITA ^^ But, that being said every day this week I've arrived at school thinking: WHA?? What did I miss?? Because every other kid shows up in shorts and tshirts and my kids are wearing pants and shirts. I'm wearing jeans and a t-shirt and I had a sweater this morning. Layers layers layers. Canadian weather is fun.

My ds will probably wear shorts and t-shirt well into November/December like he did last year his dad is the same, it will depend on the snow arrival. He wore only a t-shirt under his winter coat all winter, no complaints from him.

DS loves shorts so I let him wear them as long as he wants, he's always been a warmer child whereas I feel the cold easier. But I make him wear a hoodie.
