    Default glucose testing question

Dr is sending me for a slew of bloodwork. One of the things that is ticked off on the sheet she gave me is random glucose test. I assume this means I can either choose to eat something or not before heading into lab? It is just a random check on glucose levels and not a fasting? I plan on going tomorrow a.m, so if someone could answer this question sometime today, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks a bunch!
Also, maybe a silly question but I am curious. Would a person get better readings for such test if they ate or would the #'s be lower/better through a fasting? Is there a difference?

random glucose you do not fast for.

You just go about your day and get the blood drawn.

This is what I thought. So if I eat say right before I go, that shouldn't make my #'s higher than say someone who goes in and has nothing in their tummy b4hand? I hope I'm making sense here lol! I guess I was under the impression that if you check your sugar right after you eat, you'd have higher #'s. I just don't want to skew the results kwim?

Also, does anyone know what a 'normal' range for random glucose testing is by chance? I'm simply curious more than anything! Sorry for all the questions but thanks for answering them for me!

if you eat, of course your #s go up. But it's just a random test. they don't expect you to fast.

I do not recall the #s used for random testing though, sorry.
